Special Announcement: 90th Birthday Party Celebrations

In celebration of Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th Birthday this year, Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for West Glamorgan, D. Byron Lewis is extending an invitation to 90 people in West Glamorgan who are celebrating their 90th Birthday in 2016 to join him at a special event at Margam Orangery on Sunday May 15.

90 places are available for local people born in 1926 and all those going along will be able to take a carer with them. Anyone wishing to attend the event should write, giving their full name, address and contact details, together with a photocopy of their birth certificate, to:-

Applications should be made no later than March 31.

There will be no charge for those celebrating their 90th birthday in 2016 to attend the event, but carers will be charged a nominal fee.

Mr Lewis says: “I am very much looking forward to welcoming people living in Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot who are sharing with Her Majesty The Queen their 90th Birthday this year, to a most enjoyable afternoon to celebrate this momentous occasion.”

Margam has been selected to host the occasion due to its long standing association with the Queen’s visits to the area.

The Queen’s Birthday is on April 21 and to mark the occasion celebration beacons will be lit nationwide, including across South West Wales. There will be official celebrations taking place at Windsor over the weekend starting May 12. The Queen’s official birthday is on June 11, which is marked with the Trooping of the Colour and this year there will also be a National Service at St. Paul’s Cathedral on June 10 and the Patron’s Lunch in the Mall on June 12.
